Our Story
In 2006, Baker Development Resources (BDR) was established drawing upon the experience, background and reputation developed by Mark Baker as the principal planner in charge of the City of Richmond’s current planning division and Secretary to the City of Richmond’s Planning Commission.
BDR is a comprehensive land use planning, project management and entitlement consulting firm that is based in Richmond, Virginia. We offer a wide range of services that are geared toward guiding our clients’ land use projects through the complexities involved in project design and the political and bureaucratic aspects of project approvals.
In recent years, BDR has also bolstered its services pertaining specifically to construction permitting. Managed by Charlie Wilson, these services include (but are not limited to) Residential/Commercial Building and Trade permits, Land Disturbance permits, Demolition Permits, and Work in Street permits. Despite separate application processes, often times these permits come in unison and therefore benefit from strategic sequencing of applications. When meshing these services with our other entitlement processes, we can make the journey from A-Z that much quicker.
We regularly represent commercial, residential, mixed use, urban and historic redevelopment, and industrial projects in all facets of land use and zoning matters throughout Virginia and work regularly with State and local agencies and government bodies involved in approving development requests. We are well-versed in obtaining local land use permits and other related local and state permits and approvals necessary to successfully develop real property, including environmental and historic preservation concerns.
